Cine-Splore 3" High Perfomance Cinewhoop Frame by FPV Cycle & Stan FPV
This is a mega-cinewhoop frame not unlike any other 3” ducted design. It is NOT intended to be an acrobatic machine. It is intended for slow-ish, stable, controlled flight with the payload of a GoPro Hero 8 or similar with a TPU mount. The frame is specifically designed to be lightweight (by comparison to others), durable, easy to build/repair and cost effective to maintain. It has two 20x20 mounting platforms and one Toothpick style whoop board mount (two separate stack platforms). It is designed to fit analog components or the Vista unit. The GoPro/HD mounting platform is the same as on the CineGlide and Fouride. Camera mounts for one will be easy to swap from frame to frame.
This platform performs best with the Stan FPV Cycle 2203 3450kv T-Mount motor, 3S/4S 850-1300mah battery, StanFPV ducts, and 25mm standoffs because the StanFPV ducts are shorter. The basic ducts are from the CLOUD-149. They provide adequate prop protection/safety for most situations and are decently durable while being extremely cost effective. Unfortunately, even with the genuine Stan FPV Cycle 2203 3450kv T-Mount motor, you will still have some washout in extreme situations and minor yaw lock problems in gusty or confined environments such as a narrow corridor/hallway. The StanFPV ducts fix most of these issues and are a bolt on replacement for the original ducts. If you are an experienced FPV pilot with developed fine motor control skills in this area, you will appreciate the StanFPV ducts quite a bit. If you are novice to intermediate level, you’ll definitely notice a difference but it may not be quite as significant to you.
Compared to a typical Cinewhoop with your standard issue ~1506 and any prop, this platform running Stan FPV Cycle 2203 3450kv T-Mount motors and the StanFPV ducts is dramatically improved. The motors account for about 50% of that improvement while the StanFPV ducts provide the next ~40% or so (10% left because it’s not perfect). Note that the last 10-20% is always the most difficult to attain. Dropping the standoff height to 25mm is just icing on the cake if you care to do so

Please please please check your FC orientation, motor orientation and prop orientation BEFORE the first flight. Always test arm with your controller and NO props on and check to make sure everything is working right. Note that this frame is designed to use a whoop board but in a square configuration. Not diamond. If you are using a whoop board, at the absolute minimum you will need to yaw the board at least 45deg in the flight firmware settings to have it in the correct orientation. Also, because of how whoop boards mount motors on the corners, it's easy to end up with mixed numbered motors. Remapping motors is not difficult. Installing CineSplore StanFPV Ducts:
We've gone through a metric ton of design concepts for this. Quite possibly one of the most annoying setups anyone will need to use, cinewhoops are still loads of fun but have a bad reputation for their wonky performance. They’re most well known for being constantly touchy on the throttle with unreliable altitude control and blatantly annoying on the yaw. We set out to find a better way without reinventing the wheel. While we were seriously not a fan of ducts for a very long time, after testing many ducts we found that they actually do have favorable flight attributes that make the cinewhoop style flying easier in some ways such as maintaining slow speeds and harder in other ways like throttle/altitude and yaw management. So after loads of really unique designs, we went back to ducts and optimized the drive train, frame and duct to get the best performance we could manage. Of course it’s still a cinewhoop so it’s not going to be a super acro machine but it’s genuinely easier to fly than anything else we’ve tested.
While we have many unique designs, we're no longer interested in being super original just to have China copy everything we do. We went backwards and looked at China's offerings to see what we could rework. It took not even three minutes to land on the extremely popular Cloud-149 design. This particular design jumped out at us because it has moulded ducts. Not printed. We appreciate printing but also despise it for it's cost, weight, durability and limitations in some ways. These moulded ducts are readily available and so uber cheap it's hard to ignore. They're also made of a reasonably durable material and weigh just 10.9g ea. But they also had a very reasonable mounting platform that is good enough to become a standard. Yeah their performance blows but so do the performance of nearly every duct out there. It wasn't a hard choice to use these ducts and we'll have the ducts themselves individually available in the store too. With this now easy to use mounting platform, the special duct we developed with a ton of help from StanFPV do perform considerably better and will mount to the same platform.
There is no standard duct mounting platform right now. Considering how well the Cloud 149 platform happens to work, we’re sharing the pattern and mounting method so anyone will be able to design a printed duct to fit the hole pattern. In fact our goal with this whole thing is to get people to do the cinewhoop thing more so we can support people like StanFPV that are truly making a difference in this sector of the industry. It's for this reason that the frame platform will be cost effective. The other reason for this mounting platform is because it drastically simplifies the duct design and we can now manufacture StanFPV's duct designs for DRASTICALLY less which will drop the retail cost significantly.
StanFPV has spent a LOT of time optimizing the performance of his duct designs for a specific flight feel. He single handedly converted us with his duct design because of the significantly improved throttle/altitude and yaw performance plus improved efficiency despite their added weight. His ducts also make the quad a little quieter than no ducts or other ducts which is just magical since ducted quads typically sound like flying chainsaws. ‘A little quieter’ may not be quite as accurate as saying they just change the quality of the sound coming from the quad.
